Should we have chairs for our guests during our wedding ceremony or should we make the guests stand? Charis White, Melbourne based marriage celebrant

Charis' Blog

Of course you can have your wedding ceremony any way you would like it. However, sometimes I get asked wether I think seats for guests are important? My answer is always a resounding “YES.” If budget allows and you are tossing up the idea of having seats, do it!

Having chairs allows you to designate a proper aisle. This way the bridal party will not get confused which way to walk. You can always have the remaining guests stand behind the chairs, that way your photos look balanced.

There are often older guests at a wedding, making the oldies stand for a half an hour, is hard work for them. Even if you do not want to have hundreds of chairs, having a few at the front, makes a big difference.

There are loads of companies in Melbourne that you can hire chairs from. My favourite company is Weddings of Distinction https://www.weddingsofdistinction.com.au

This company is owned by two families who are exceptional people with exceptional experience. In fact, they can guide you in all things wedding related from styling, planning, coordination to drinks on the day.

Remember, like anything in the wedding industry, chairs book out. So, if you are getting married in peak wedding season, lock this element in early.
