Same Sex Marriage Celebrant, based in Melbourne

Well, today is the start of a wonderful new journey for many marriage celebrants. We are all currently getting our heads around the new legislation which will be used as of tomorrow.

I am so thrilled that my couple tomorrow are part of history. They will be one of the first in Australia to have the new monitum said in their wedding ceremony. The wording is no longer hurtful, it is now inclusive. Who would have thought the government could change everything overnight?

As of tomorrow the new wording of the monitum is: I am duly authorised by law to solemnise marriages according to law. Before you are joined in marriage in my presence and in the presence of these witnesses, I am to remind you of the solemn and binding nature of the relationship into which you are now about to enter.  Marriage, according to law in Australia, is the union of two people to the exclusion of all others, voluntarily entered into for life.

BLOODY BRILLIANT I SAY!!!!!!!!!

There is a great article here which talks you through the legalities and what it means for you as a same sex couple. http://www.abc.net.au/news/2017-12-07/when-can-you-lodge-your-notice-for-intended-marriage-forms/9238438

Of course as a marriage celebrant, I am here to also talk you through anything you need to know. If I can help with anything, please let me know.

It is overwhelming, exciting, brilliant and amazing all in one. I am simply overcome with happiness. After all LOVE IS LOVE and LOVE WINS!!!!
