We want to have our wedding in a park, do we need to book or do we need a permit?

Having your wedding in a park is an amazing location for a wedding. Of course, every park and location has different rules and regulations.

The Fitzroy gardens, Botanic Gardens, Edinburgh gardens, Carlton Gardens and the gardens in the Melbourne City council all require you to have a permit. They also require you to have a permit for you photographer.

Fees are:

$650 + gst – lawn ceremony

$800 + gst – pavilion ceremony

$400 + gst – winter wedding lawn rate

$600 + gst – winter wedding pavilion rate

* Note: a second vehicle permit can be purchased for $115 + gst. You can use this to drop off the remaining bridal party or an elderly guest. Please note permits are for drop off only; cars cannot return to collect the bride after the ceremony.

Fees are:

This does not include wedding receptions, parties or wedding photography.

All wedding permit applications will incur an application fee and a site fee.

All fees are GST inclusive.

Use the interactive map to determine the classification of the site you wish to book.

Application fee: $57

Fees (maximum of 4 hours) applying to site types:

premium sites: $620

unique sites: $565

standard sites: $512.

The Conservatory at Fitzroy Gardens:

for 1.5 hours: $512

for 3 hours: $1024

This venue can only be booked outside of public opening hours (9am to 5.30pm).

Fees are: Heritage Garden Private function $137.00

Heritage Garden Corporate function $258.00

General Garden / Open Space Private Function $86.00

General Garden / Open Space Corporate Function $205.00

Additional fees may be applicable to your permit and are as follows:

Structures to be erected price per structure $205.00

City of Port Phillip Public Liability insurance cover $28.50
