A Rupert on Rupert Wedding for Lauchlan and Alex

August 27, 2026
Wedding

A Rupert on Rupert wedding has a character all its own. Hidden within the creative streets of Collingwood, this beautiful venue combines lush greenery, industrial architecture and warm hospitality in a space that feels unmistakably Melbourne.

I had the pleasure of conducting Lauchlan and Alex’s wedding ceremony at Rupert on Rupert. Their celebration was rich, romantic and deeply atmospheric. The dark green setting, dramatic red flowers and candlelight created a wonderful backdrop for a ceremony centred on their story and the people they love.

A unique wedding venue in Collingwood

Rupert on Rupert is located at 73 Rupert Street in Collingwood, only a short distance from Melbourne’s city centre. From the street, the venue feels discreet. Once inside, guests discover an imaginative space filled with plants, natural textures, high ceilings and beautiful light.

The Conservatory is one of the venue’s most memorable features. Its transparent ceiling allows the light to change throughout the day while keeping everyone protected from Melbourne’s unpredictable weather. The abundance of greenery gives the room the feeling of a garden ceremony without the uncertainty of an outdoor setting.

For couples who want an inner city wedding that feels relaxed and visually distinctive, Rupert on Rupert offers something very special. The ceremony and reception can take place in the same venue, allowing the day to flow naturally without asking guests to travel between locations.

Lauchlan and Alex’s rich and romantic ceremony

Lauchlan and Alex chose a beautiful colour palette of deep red, burgundy, cream and green. Their flowers worked perfectly with the venue’s existing foliage and dark interior. The result felt dramatic and romantic while remaining warm and welcoming.

Lauchlan wore a burgundy suit with black lapels, while Alex wore an elegant lace gown and veil with rich red hair and delicate jewellery. Their wedding party continued the colour story through red dresses and dark tailoring.

The ceremony space brought everyone close to the couple. That intimacy is ideal for storytelling because guests can see each expression and feel part of the promises being made. As their celebrant, I guided the ceremony while keeping the attention exactly where it belonged, on Lauchlan and Alex.

Why Rupert on Rupert works so well for ceremonies

A wedding ceremony needs more than a beautiful background. It also needs a space where guests can hear clearly, feel comfortable and remain connected to the couple. Rupert on Rupert’s Conservatory creates a natural sense of focus while still feeling relaxed.

The venue already has strong visual character, so couples can choose styling that complements the room rather than transforming it completely. Lauchlan and Alex’s red floral arrangements framed the ceremony beautifully and enhanced the existing greenery.

The indoor setting is also reassuring during Melbourne’s warmer, cooler and wetter months. Couples can enjoy the atmosphere of natural light and plants without needing a complicated weather plan.

Reception options at Rupert on Rupert

After the ceremony, guests can continue celebrating within the venue. Rupert on Rupert states that its Main Dining Hall can accommodate up to eighty guests for a seated shared feast or up to two hundred guests for a standing cocktail celebration. Couples should confirm current capacity and layout options directly with the venue.

The Main Dining Hall has high ceilings, steel rafters and the warm character of a beautifully considered warehouse conversion. The room can be arranged around the number of tables required while still allowing space for music and dancing.

Rupert on Rupert also provides its own catering. This can make planning easier because the food, drinks, service and venue experience are coordinated by one team. Current menus, packages and inclusions should always be discussed directly with the venue.

Planning a smooth Rupert on Rupert wedding

When your ceremony and reception share one location, a thoughtful timeline helps the transition feel effortless. Your celebrant, venue coordinator, photographer, musicians and other suppliers should understand the run sheet before the day.

Consider where guests will arrive, how the ceremony seating will be arranged and where signing will take place. It is also useful to plan when the ceremony space will be reset and where guests will gather immediately afterwards.

I work closely with couples and wedding professionals to make this process feel calm. I prepare the legal documents, write a completely personal ceremony and ensure everyone involved understands what will happen. This allows you to stay present and enjoy the moment.
